The question of who is the G.O.A.T, "Greatest Of All Time", has become a popular discussion these days. Especially as it relates to athletes. My first recollection of hearing this term used, was by the Greatest, Muhammad Ali, in the 1970's.
Today, everybody has a "Greatest Of All Time" list. The debate rages on. Is it Michael or Lebron, Magic of Kareem, Tom Brady or Joe Montana, Jack Nicklaus of Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali or Joe Louis. I recently read a list of the best to worse presidents of all time. Everybody is ranking somebody.
As an avid sports fan, of course, I have my list as well. Sometimes a person's overall career statistics is so overwhelming, he or she has to be in consideration for the G.O.A.T. (See Wilt Chamberlains 100 points, Bill Russell's 11 Championships, Tom Brady's 7 Super Bowl rings, Serena Williams 23 Grand Slams). Other times I think of the impact a player may have had on our collective consciousness, (See Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Lebron James, Muhammad Ali).
Sometimes being considered for the G.O.A.T has a lot to due with the era or generation of the individual. The question is often asked, what would he or she do in today's game? What if he or she was on a better team, or played in a different era? The various sport talk shows spend a lot of time on this subject, but the answers are always changing, as time passes by.
As we continue the never ending debate of who the G.O.A.T is in sports, the real G.O.A.T is not an athlete or a president. He is not a singer or an actor. The G.O.A.T is un-debatable. in-fact the G.O.A.T is not a Goat at all, but a Lamb. The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John 1:29.
He is the G.O.A.T because He is God almighty.
Revelation 4:8 BSB
"And each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around and within. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
He is the G.O.A.T because He is Omnipotent
Revelation 19:6 NKJV
"And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!"
He is the G.O.A.T for He is the Alpha and the Omega.
Revelation 22:12-14 NLT
“Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
He is the G.O.A.T because
He is Trustworthy and True.
Psalms 111:6-7 BSB
"He has shown His people the power of His works by giving them the inheritance of the nations. The works of His hands are truth and justice; all His precepts are trustworthy."
Rev. 15:3 BSB
"And they sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and wonderful are Your works, O Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations!"
The greatest of all time is not a mere athlete, who is great for but a short time, but then grows old and gray. The greatest of all time is the One who is above time. The One who is before time. The One who is beyond time. The One who before time was, I AM. The One who can cause the Sun to stand still (Joshua 10:11-13). The greatest of all time, is not a man, no he is not just a baby, born in a manger, He is The Lamb of God, and He is worthy to be praised. He is the Lion of Judah (Revelation 5:5). He is God almighty. He is God, Holy Spirit. He Is God, our Savior and King.
